The 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1
New features.
. Cross plane Crankshaft (irregular firing order)
. Throttle response switch & guage
. Projector headlights
. All new deltabox chassis
. Magnesium subframe
. Gear possition indicator
. Slipper clutch
With the crossplane crankshaft, you get the torque of a V-Twin and the power of a inline 4. Its an amazing piece of enginering, the bike handles well in the corners the grip is awesome. It also allows allows to run a shorter stroke so the motor spins up so quickly (see the video's below)
The throttle response is ajustable by the (power selector mode switch), Which unlike the GSX-R it doesn't cut the power in the different modes, The yamaha has standard mode, A mode for 30% quicker throttle response, and B mode for 30% slower throttle response/ pick up.
The dash has had a major update, It has a display on the dash showing the throttle mode your in, and the throttle opening too. It has an all new gear possition indicator. The shift light has been moved and has been dulled a bit (previous version blinded you)
All new lights are called projectors, they use a single bulb and reflectors inside the lights to use high and low beam.
